Making sure that your internet connection is at the speed that you have had it promised to you is one that should be taken seriously. The number of times I have checked my speed and it has been way below that which was promised to me by my ISP.
The thing is hunting around I find I am not the only one with a gripe, I found a blog where the guy had been in constant contact with his ISP for months trying to get information out of them so he started to document more of his results and what he did (his blog is at How Fast is my internet connection)
I am on the advice in his blog off to find out more about how fast my internet connection is!
